Your porting timeline - what happens on the day

Created by James Mackenzie, Modified on Fri, 7 Aug at 6:58 PM by James Mackenzie

You have given us your PAC and your port is booked. Here is what actually happens, so nothing on the day surprises you.

The sequence

  1. Before the switch: your old SIM keeps working as normal. Keep it in the phone.
  2. On porting day: at some point during the working day, service moves. You may see a short gap - typically minutes, occasionally a few hours - where calls or texts behave oddly. This is normal.
  3. The handover moment: your old SIM loses service. Switch to your VoicePro SIM or eSIM, restart the phone, and your number is live with us.
  4. Afterwards: texts and calls arrive on the VoicePro SIM. Ports complete within three working days of you giving us the PAC, and most complete sooner.

Tips for a smooth day

  • Install the VoicePro eSIM (or fit the SIM) before porting day, so the switch is just a restart.
  • Do not cancel your old contract yourself - the port closes the old service automatically once the number moves. Cancelling early can kill the number before it transfers.
  • Keep the phone on and in coverage during the day.

If something looks stuck

If your old SIM has gone dead but the number has not arrived on the VoicePro side after a restart and an hour's wait, raise a ticket with your number and PAC - port issues are time-sensitive and we chase them as a priority.
