IoT billing is usage-based and designed for fleets that grow in stages.
The core rule
You pay for SIMs that actually connect and use data in a month. SIMs sitting in inventory, or installed but dormant ahead of a rollout, do not incur data charges - so you can buy stock for a year's deployment without paying a year of subscriptions up front.
What a monthly invoice looks like
- Active SIM count for the month
- Data usage by SIM group and zone, at the rates in your agreement
- Any SMS or voice usage where your tariff includes them
Usage detail is available from the dashboard and API, so your finance team can reconcile the invoice against the same numbers your engineers see.
Controlling spend
- Data limits per SIM or group stop a faulty device from running up a surprise bill.
- Webhook alerts on usage thresholds give you early warning while there is still time to act.
- Suspend in one call - a compromised or retired device stops billing the moment you suspend it.
Commercials
Tariffs are set in your agreement based on deployment size, countries and data profile, and they evolve as your fleet grows - talk to the IoT desk via the business ticket form when your usage pattern changes and we will re-tier you.
