Roles and permissions in your workspace

Created by James Mackenzie, Modified on Fri, 7 Aug at 6:57 PM by James Mackenzie

Give people exactly the control their job needs - and nobody the ability to take the company's numbers hostage by accident.

The roles

  • Owner: full control, including billing, plan changes and closing the account. Keep at least two owners so holiday and staff change never lock you out.
  • Admin: manages lines, seats and day-to-day settings, but not ownership transfers.
  • Member: uses their line and sees their own usage; no account controls.

Sensible defaults

  1. Two owners (for example a director plus finance).
  2. Office manager or IT as admin - they handle new starters, leavers and SIM swaps.
  3. Everyone else as members.

When someone leaves

  • Remove their seat (access) and deal with their line separately - see "Adding and removing lines mid-cycle".
  • If the leaver was an owner, transfer ownership first, then downgrade.
  • Removing a seat takes effect immediately across app and portal access.

Audit trail

Administrative changes in the workspace are recorded against the seat that made them, which keeps disputes short and honest. If you spot a change nobody owns up to, treat it as a security event and see "Setting up app security" plus "Recognising scams".
