ASR or quality dropped on a destination - how to report it

Created by James Mackenzie, Modified on Fri, 7 Aug at 7:47 PM by James Mackenzie

Route quality moves. When a destination's answer rates or audio quality degrade, a well-formed report gets it re-groomed in hours instead of days.

What "degraded" looks like in numbers

  • ASR (answer-seizure ratio) falling clearly below the destination's normal - compare like-for-like hours, since ASR swings by time of day.
  • ACD (average call duration) collapsing - short calls at volume usually mean customers are hanging up on bad audio.
  • A spike in a specific reject (see the SIP cause-code guide) or in dead-air complaints.

Report with this shape

  1. Destination (country/prefix) and when the change started, with timezone.
  2. Your numbers: ASR/ACD before vs after, sample size, and the failing pattern (rejects? silence? clipping?).
  3. Five example calls with timestamps - recent ones, from the degraded window.
  4. Business impact: is this your primary route for the destination, and do you want an interim reroute while we investigate?

What happens on our side

We compare your window against our route statistics, test the destination directly, and where a downstream carrier is at fault we re-groom the traffic and pursue the quality dispute with them. You will get a first substantive response within the SLA in your agreement, and the ticket stays open until your own stats confirm recovery - your numbers, not ours, close a quality case.
